At times a moving portrait of the lengths a parent will go to to protect and care for their child. It's harmed a bit by an overall cheap look and more so by general sloppiness in the script and/or production. A major turning point in the story is the young child's refusal to take a shower upon demand. Yet the house clearly has a bathtub, making it look like Barry Pepper is some sort of demented anti-bath psycho instead of simply shooting in a room that has no bathtub and only a shower. The movie also has a somewhat disturbing take on abuse.

Sometimes; to show that you love someone, you have to let them go.
What would you do if you had to fight to get your kid back when he’s already adopted?
What would you do if the parents of your adopted son suddenly wanted him back, although you’ve given him the best life possible?
This movie is very complex, because you empathize with both couples. Their love for the same kid gives them strength and weakness all at once. It’s very painful to know that one of them has to give him up… -

Kay-Anna and I used to watch this movie with my mom and for some reason we've always loved it and I still do. I haven't watched it probably in over 10 years and it's definitely not well made but the storyline gets me. I wish I could insert a picture of how hard I was crying during this but I'll spare you.

An alcoholic abuser gets sent to prison. His girl is waiting for him seven years later, still very able to forgive. Now the guy want's a kid - he's rehabilitated and all. When she tell's him that she was pregnant when he was put behind bars but decided to give the kid away the game is on. He will get his boy back. This sound pretty hard to do, but after some paper signing stuff and other papers not signed and biological father rights and everything this is doable.
Now for another part of the country. Joey is living his young life in a mantion with his wealthy parents. When he's not out in the yacht he is being spolied.…

I watched majority of this movie in health class but we didn’t get to finish so I finished it outside of class… I was quite invested.
Obviously this movie is not perfect but it’s story is gripping and really resonates with me. The emotion was so raw and real and the acting was incredible. Especially Maxwell Perry Cotton… easily one of the best child actors I’ve ever seen.
